RESTON, VA. March 17, 2026 鈥� 海角社区 filed comments today with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and issued the following statement:
鈥満＝巧缜�檚 Modification Application proposes to place an L-band payload鈥擲kyTerra Next鈥攁board NGSO satellites that AST SpaceMobile is deploying into low Earth orbit. This technological upgrade complements the company鈥檚 existing SkyTerra-1 operations and would make more intensive and efficient use of 海角社区鈥檚 existing licensed L-band spectrum, consistent with 海角社区鈥檚 coordination framework and the FCC rules governing its license. This approach would help expand space-based 5G connectivity for U.S. consumers, including in areas where terrestrial coverage is limited while bringing additional innovation and competition to the emerging Direct-to-Device (D2D) market.鈥�
