Celebrating British Science Week

British Science Week is a national 10 day celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).  We are marking this important week in a number of ways – including special experiments in classes for students and a science workshop in the creche!

Our main project for British Science Week is an incredible interdisciplinary project with our 16-18 learners themed around the planets. During maths sessions our students will work in small groups on a given planet. They will create scale models of the planets, find out information about them and investigate women scientists working on space missions.

Once created, the scaled models of the planets will be hung on the ground floor of our North Kensington Centre with the distances between the scale models representing the distance between the planets in space.

Science education for all

Science is an essential part of the curriculum offer at Morley. Dr Fiona Murray, Head of School, Health, Education, Social and Applied Science, explains why Morley is a great choice for science subjects:

“At Morley,  our science offer is diverse, successful and is based around the principle that Science, Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) is for all.  Regardless of age and background we have a course available. These include BTECs, GCSEs and Access to HE diplomas and run across all 3 science disciplines. We are proud to be one of only a few institutions to offer life changing qualifications such as the GCSEs in the Sciences for adults and the highly popular Access to HE: Medicine course.

“Our learners benefit from custom built laboratory facilities and exceptionally qualified specialist tutors who are fully committed to their success. The opportunities we create for Londoners to pursue a future in Science are first-rate and it is honour to be part of them.”

Discover more about our science courses and speak to tutors at our Open Evenings in March at North Kensington and Waterloo. We look forward to seeing you there!
